Ondo state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has stressed the need for sustained collaboration among elected representatives and stakeholders to advance the development, peace and stability of the state.

Aiyedatiwa made this known while hosting the nine members of the House of Representatives from Ondo State to a dinner at the Government House, Akure, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between the executive and legislative arms of government.

The lawmakers in attendance were Hon. Abiodun Derin Adesida (Akure South/Akure North), Hon. Abiola Makinde (Ondo East/Ondo West), Hon. Timehin Adelegbe (Owo/Ose), Hon. Gboyega Adefarati (Akoko South West/Akoko South-East), Hon. Ife Ehindero (Akoko North-East/Akoko North-West), Hon. Festus Akingbaso (Idanre/Ifedore), Hon. Festus Adefiranye (Ileoluji-Okeigbo/Odigbo), Hon. Donald Ojogo (Ilaje/Ese-Odo) and Hon. Jimi Odimayo (Okitipupa/Irele).

According to the governor, achieving sustainable development in Ondo State requires unity of purpose and cooperation across all tiers of government, noting that partisan interests should be secondary to the overall welfare of the people.

Aiyedatiwa reiterated that his administration remains focused on governance, service delivery and improving the living conditions of residents across the state.

He said cooperation with members of the National Assembly was essential for attracting federal presence and ensuring effective implementation of development initiatives.

The governor also briefed the lawmakers on preparations for activities marking the 50th anniversary of the creation of Ondo State, highlighting plans aimed at showcasing the state’s history, achievements and future development prospects.

Aiyedatiwa noted that all 12 members of the National Assembly from Ondo State—comprising senators and House of Representatives members—as well as the 26 members of the Ondo State House of Assembly, are now members of the APC, describing the situation as a notable development in the state’s political landscape.

The federal lawmakers, however, expressed appreciation to the governor for the engagement and commended his administration’s efforts in governance and development.

They pledged to work closely with the state government to support initiatives that would promote growth, stability and unity in Ondo State, while also contributing to the strengthening of the APC.

The engagement provided an opportunity for discussions on collaboration between the federal lawmakers and the state government, particularly in areas relating to infrastructure development, social services, economic growth and political stability.

Attention was also given to strengthening internal cohesion within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state ahead of the party’s forthcoming congresses.

The meeting further examined ways of aligning federal and state development priorities to ensure Ondo State continues to benefit from projects and interventions under the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Those present at the meeting included the Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ololade Gbegudu; National Vice Chairman of the APC, Hon. Isaac Kekemeke; Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative and Party Affairs, Hon. Babatunde Kolawole; and APC chieftain, Prince Ademola Adegoroye.
