Nigerian disc jockey and record producer, Imohiosen Partrick, popularly known as DJ Neptune, has said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) in music production could soon replace human producers.

He said this in a discussion with media personality N6, who had earlier shared a similar view. DJ Neptune explained how he recently encountered an AI-generated track that changed his perspective.

He wrote via X, “AI is quietly about to retire the entire music production and mastering Industry. I have seen scary tinz tonight. God help all of us in this ecosystem.”

Reacting, DJ Neptune said, “I dey tell you. Someone sent me a record to listen to some days ago and give me my feedback.

“After listening, I told the guy to sign the artist cos what I heard was out of this world. That’s how my guy said na AI work. E shook me o.”

The conversation highlights how Artificial Intelligence is being used in music production, especially among emerging and established artists, producers, and sound engineers, as many now rely on AI tools to improve beats, vocals, and overall sound.

On the global stage, the Recording Academy has updated its guidelines. Music that includes AI elements can now qualify for the Grammys if there is enough human input.

The development has raised questions across the industry, with some professionals calling for limits, arguing that AI-driven music challenges ideas around originality, authorship, and creativity.
