An eighty-two year-old man, Mr Oloko Adeyemi and seven others were, last week conferred with Doctor of Ministry degree during the 21st anniversary and annual graduation ceremony of International College of Ministry, College of Specialised Ministries, an affiliate of AMES Christian Universities, United States of America.
The convocation also witnessed 10 others who bagged postgraduate degree in Christian Ministry; 16 bagged postgraduate degree in Advanced Christian Ministry, while 10 bagged Diploma in Christian Ministry.
Speaking during the convocation, the college president, Professor Rowland Peters, said the college will continue to endeavour to provide current and helpful information to clerics and other leaders on better and effective ways of ministry.
“We are impacting both the Anglophone as well as the Francophone countries in Africa. Aside from the major work done in Ghana, we have translated all our college materials into French,” he said.
The college president urged Nigerians, especially, Christians to learn how to develop faith in doing things, saying, “We all have different graces and callings from God.”
“When God asks you to do things, He is going to help and support you. Learn how to build a team which will be making things to happen. Try as much as possible to follow God’s principles. Knowing your purpose and assignment in life can help to simplify your life,” he added.
He also urged Nigerian leaders to always demonstrate elements of leadership qualities by doing the right thing at all time as well as shun sectional behaviours as the nation belongs all ethnic groups.
Professor Rowland said that people in positions of authority should always think about inclusive government, saying that the people need to have input in the ways they are being governed.
“The security situation across the country is worrisome. Government should take it more serious. The youth should focus more on their future and also focus on building career for themselves,” he added.
Also, four eminent Nigerians were awarded honorary doctors at the event. They are Pastor Taiwo Ezekiel Moradeyo; Deaconess Cynthia Greg; Bishop Stephen Adeyori Mayadenu and Ogunkunle Peter Oluranti.
