THE police in Benue State have rescued a medical doctor, Emmanuel Orhembe, three days after he was abducted in Gboko.
Dr Orhember told newsmen that he was abducted in his house by armed men and he was in their captivity for three days before the police rescued him.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Catherine Anene, said the medical doctor was rescued from the kidnappers’ den in Mbayior forest by men of Operation Zenda, led by SP Justin Gberindyer.
The police spokesperson said: “Men of Operation Zenda engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel, killing three of them, while others fled with bullet wounds.”

Anene then called on residents of the state, particularly those living in Gboko, to avail the police and other security agencies useful information that would help nip crime in the bud.
She said items recovered from the suspected kidnappers included assorted charms, arms and ammunition, mobile phones, SIM cards, among others.
