Twenty-six trainees of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Bauchi State, under its Environmental Beautification Training Scheme, have received basic tools as starter packs to set up their own self-employed outfits.
The trainees will utilise the skills they acquired during the training.
Lawan Yaya, the State Coordinator of NDE, spoke with journalists during the disbursement exercise in Bauchi on Wednesday.
He explained that this initiative was taking place in 12 states across the country and was part of the promises made by the Director-General of NDE, Malam Nuhu Fikpo, to resettle trainees and support them in starting their own businesses.
Yaya stated, “Today, we have launched the disbursement of basic working tools for the Environmental Beautification Training Scheme in NDE.”
He further elaborated, “The training was divided into three segments: soft landscaping, hard landscaping, and horticulture, with 26 trainees receiving training in these skills.” He mentioned that the NDE management had generously purchased the necessary equipment and tools for the trainees to establish their businesses.
Yaya urged the beneficiaries not to sell the equipment but rather make good use of them to become employers of labour. He emphasised the importance of utilizing the equipment to achieve success in their entrepreneurial ventures.
Aminu Musa, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed appreciation to the NDE for investing in the youth and providing them with the opportunity to become successful individuals in the future. Musa was pleased with the kind gesture and encouraged the NDE to extend similar support to others.
The distributed equipment included wheelbarrows, head pans, POP moulds, giant scissors, diggers, and water pumps, among other items.
