A 25-year-old Nigerian fashion model, David Oluwafimidara Olatuja, popularly known as Dave Grammy, has disclosed that plans are underway to establish his own fashion brand as part of efforts to expand his influence in the fashion industry and create opportunities for aspiring models across Nigeria.
The model revealed that preparations for the brand had reached an advanced stage, adding that he was currently working towards securing a befitting edifice that would serve as the headquarters of the fashion outfit. According to him, the project is aimed at building a platform that nurtures young talents while promoting Nigerian creativity on the global stage.
Dave Grammy also expressed optimism about collaborating with internationally recognised fashion brands, including FashionNova, with whom he has worked in the past. He noted that such partnerships would enhance the visibility of the brand and expose emerging Nigerian models to global opportunities.
Speaking on his vision, the model said the proposed fashion brand would go beyond clothing and modelling by serving as a hub for mentorship, talent development and career guidance for young people interested in the fashion industry. He stressed that many talented youths only require the right support system to thrive.
According to him, one of his major motivations for establishing the brand is to inspire the younger generation to pursue their dreams regardless of the challenges they may encounter. He added that success becomes more meaningful when it creates opportunities for others.
Dave Grammy recalled that his modelling career gathered momentum after he auditioned and featured for international brands such as FashionNova and Zara, experiences he described as defining moments that boosted his confidence and expanded his professional network.
He explained that his charisma, unique posture and creativity distinguished him during auditions, earning him opportunities to work with globally recognised fashion brands. He added that working with some of the world’s leading labels had always been one of his aspirations.
The model further recounted that his journey into modelling began during the COVID-19 lockdown when he frequently posed for photographs taken by his brother, a photographer. He said one of the pictures later went viral on social media, attracting attention from industry stakeholders and opening doors to professional opportunities.
Reflecting on his achievements, Dave Grammy said, “Amazing how I have achieved all this in my 20s. Superstardom seriously doesn’t get any better than this.” He added that the recognition he has received internationally has strengthened his resolve to build a lasting legacy through his forthcoming fashion brand.
With the planned launch of the fashion brand and proposed collaborations with leading international labels, Dave Grammy expressed confidence that the initiative would serve as an inspiration for upcoming models in Nigeria, while contributing to the growth of the country’s fashion industry and helping young talents compete on the global stage.
