A women’s support group in Ebonyi State, AnyiChuks Women Support Care Association, has endorsed the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, for the 2027 general election.

The endorsement took place at the weekend in Abakaliki during the group’s summit and inauguration of its ward and local government executives.

Addressing the gathering, the National President of the group, Mrs. Amaka Chukwu, described Odii as the man God sent to rescue the state from what she described as untold hardship.

She said Odii had the capacity to transform the state among the candidates contesting the governorship election.

“We, the women, we have suffered a lot and that’s why we gathered here in our large numbers to take a stand on the 2027 governorship election and we have taken the position.

“We have declared our total support for Chief Ifeanyi Odii for next year’s general election because he has all it takes to develop this state.

“We will change Ebonyi State with Chief Ifeanyi Odii, we will do it because we have the number,” she declared.

In his remarks, the National President of Odozi Obodo Youth Assembly, a support group for Odii, Chief Mark Onu, urged the women to remain resolute and united in their campaign for what he described as good governance in the state.

Onu described women as the strength of society and warned that politicians who ignore women risk losing their support.

“Women are very important to the society. Apart from being important to the society, women are more sincere than men.

“Women give majority of votes in any election since 1999. We have monitored elections both in local governments, in wards and even in the state and we can attest that women give 70% of the votes. So, women are in the majority.

“And because they are in majority, no right thinking person who is a politician should joke with women because if women come together and say, we don’t believe in this, it will be very difficult for anybody to achieve what they don’t believe in,” Onu stated.
