Bauchi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rose from its stakeholders meeting on Monday with a resolution that Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir is still on his presidential aspiration for 2023 elections.

Addressing journalists after the meeting held at the old Banquet Hall of the Government House, State Chairman of the party, Hamza Koshe Akuyam said, “You will recall that the Governor has expressed his interest in the 2023 presidency, as at now that I am talking to you, nothing has changed.”

The PDP Chairman added that “We as members of the PDP in Bauchi state are solidly behind him, anywhere he goes politically, we are there with him.”

On the reason for the meeting, Hamza Akuyam said that “going by the Electoral Act, political activities have commenced and we don’t want to be caught unawares. We came together to educate ourselves on the amendment to the Electoral Law.”

According to him, “we have told the party members to gear up for politicking, they should get ready to purchase the necessary forms so that the processes can be done in line with the relevant laws.”

Hamza Akuyam expressed confidence that the PDP will remain in power in Bauchi State as long as possible because according to him, “we have delivered and will continue to deliver, that is the reason we were elected.”

He declared that “We are ready to receive nomination forms from everyone interested to contest for any office including that of the Governor. We don’t have any special positions for anyone.”

The PDP Chairman then appealed to members to avoid any rancour that will breed crisis in the party stressing the need to understand and tolerate each other.
