THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called for improved collaboration among relevant stakeholders in order to deliver free, fair and credible elections in 2019.
The electoral umpire argued that the task of organising a hitch-free polls remains a collective responsibility of well-meaning Nigerians.
The Oyo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr Mutiu Agboke, made the call in a lecture he delivered at the biannual conference organised by the youth forum of Dawah Front Nigeria, Abeokuta Chapter.
The REC, who spoke on “The Youth and Governance in Nigeria”, maintained that the contribution of youths to the electioneering process is inevitable.
According to him: “The commission reiterates it’s readiness to deliver not only a free and fair election but also a credible one.
“We solicit further support from all other stakeholders, particularly Nigerian youth.
“INEC alone cannot deliver a credible. Let us ensure that we play our roles variously.
Agboke stated that nobody shall occupy any leadership position again in Nigeria except through the use of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), which he said will be predicated on the principle of “One Man, One Vote.”
