A group, Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard, has called on Lagos residents to come out en-masse and participate in the ongoing voter’s registration exercise, describing the turnout so far across the country as worrisome.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had since 27th April 2017 rolled out the continuous voters registration (CRV) exercise across the country, with the commission said to have recorded just four million as turnout.
Coordinator of the group, Mr Seyi Bamigbade, made the call while speaking on Wednesday with newsmen in Alimosho area of the state about Ambode Poverty Alleviation Empowerment Programme and official integration of some political groups into the Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard.
Already, he said the official integration of some political groups, which took place on Monday at Oshodi Local Government Secretariat, was to give Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard more opportunities to mobilize volunteers, canvassers for the ongoing voter registration exercise.
Bamigbade said the only way Lagosians can return Governor Akinwunmi Ambode back to the office is for them to register with the INEC to enable them not only to vote the governor but also give him more votes, come 2019 General Election.

According to the coordinator, the ongoing voter registration exercise is intended to afford all eligible citizens, who are 18years and above who did not register in previous exercise the opportunity to do so at their convenience.
He, therefore, encouraged all eligible Lagos residents to register at the INEC office at the local government’s headquarters and other officially designated areas across the state nearer to them.
Speaking further, Bamigbade said that the Alimosho for Ambode Poverty Alleviation Empowerment Programme scheduled to hold on Saturday was designed to empower people to go into small-scale businesses, in line with the All Progressives Congress (APC) policy.
Also speaking, Hon. Alli Balogun, the patron of Alli Balogun Campaign Organization, the group that collaborates with Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard, contended that the empowerment programme was in line with the APC’s policy to bring governance closer to the people and develop human capacity.
