THE Concerned Nigerian Christian’s Forum (CNCF) have called on Christians across the country to exercise their civic duty next month by coming out massively to vote for their candidates at the general election.
The group also said they would organise a prayer summit to pray for Nigeria especially the leaders at all levels and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the General election.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, the National Coordinator of CNCF, Isaac Balami said the Bible enjoins Christians to always pray for their leader, so Nigerian leaders being the arrowhead in the pathway for good health, needs prayers.
While seeking prayers for the Electoral umpire, he also appealed to Christians to be law-abiding as the cast their votes to their preferred candidates at the upcoming election.
“We really want to appeal to all believers to be law abiding and come out and vote, we also want INEC to know that the whole world is watching, and because of that, we are going to pray for them for God to give them the grace to be transparent as they have promised so that Nigeria will be satisfied with the outcome, like poise the international community, I believe that nobody in INEC wants chaos, no Christian or Muslim want chaos, we all preach peace in our holy books.

“It is our belief that while we are praying for the leadership of the country, INEC plays a vital role, we are going to be praying for them and we are expecting a lot and so much from them.”
Furthermore, he said: “We are not in doubt that Nigeria needs a ready, able and capable unifying force armed with Christian ideas and unshakable purpose in order to support her in re-inventing a more purposeful national identity.
“If Nigeria fails in this noble cause, the result shall be devastating with further polarization of our people, deepening of our disharmony and a robust harvest of pain and chagrin which are inimical to the peace and development we desire and that we deserve as a nation.
He, therefore, said: “The leaders of our nation form the arrowhead in the pathway of good health for our nation and the Biblical mandate of 1 Timothy 2:1 and 2 enjoins us to pray for our leaders and all those in authority.”
“CNCF through the Nigerian Christian Summit 2019 senses the need to pray for the leadership of our country for wisdom and through this, we make a push for healing, reconciliation, peace and unity.”
“The theme of the Summit ‘National Healing, Reconciliation and Unity’ further buttresses this true the that Nigeria is at a junction in its beleaguered history and will be unable to experience sustainable socio-economic and political development outside of national healing, reconciliation no unity.”
