TWO labourers — Alex Phillips and Timothy Daniel — who allegedly broke into their neighbour’s house in the night and stole N105, 000, were on Monday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The accused — Phillips, 22, and Daniel 30 — who both reside at No. 23, Robert Ovie St., Alagbado, a suburb of Lagos, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, housebreaking and stealing.
Police Prosecutor Michael Unah told the court that the accused committed the offences on May 29 at 2.00 a.m. at No. 25, Robert Ovia St., Alagbado.
Unah alleged the accused gained entry into the house of the complainant, Mr Bamidele Adeniran, through the window and stole the N105,000.
“The complainant chased them to a nearby uncompleted building and discovered they were his neighbours.
“He reported the case to the police and the accused were arrested for questioning,” he said.
The offences contravened Sections 287, 310 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sections 287 and 310 stipulate a three-year jail term each for stealing and housebreaking.
The duo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mr A. A. Fashola, granted them bail in the sum of N50, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
Fashola said the sureties should be gainfully employed with an evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State
Government.
The case was adjourned until July 2 for the mention.
