17-year-old kills self over theft allegations

A 17-year-old boy, Ojibe Chibueze, who was allegedly accused of stealing his boss’ money has committed suicide in Lagos.

The late Chibueze was accused of stealing N100,000 belonging to his boss.

The image maker in charge of the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin said that investigations had commenced into the circumstances surrounding the death.

The deceased teenager was reportedly declared missing until his lifeless body was recovered by his family.

The police image maker said; “Today, being 12/02/24 at about 07:hours, one Cynthia reported at Elemore division that her brother, Ojibe Chibueze, aged 27 came back from work at about 20:00 of yesterday, 11/03/24, took some money and went out.

“She stated further that the master of the boy, where he worked later her and informed her that her brother stokes the sum of one hundred thousand naira from his shop”.

The Lagos police image maker also continued; “The complainant further stated that the said Ojibe Chibueze did not come back home till she received a phone call from one of her neighbours that she saw her brother lying dead at Abijo bus stop after which she rushed to the scene and met her brother’ s lifeless body with a plastic of Sniper beside him, which she presumed that he drank.

“On the receipt of the report, detectives of the division visited the scene and foam was gushing out of his mouth and nose.

“The can of the Sniper has been recovered as an exhibit. The corpse has been removed and deposited at Epe General Hospital mortuary for autopsy and preservation. Investigation is ongoing”.
