The Kogi State Police Command headquarters are in Lokoja, where 168 Inspectors recently promoted were decorated with their new rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police II by the state Police Commissioner, Mr Bethrand Onuoha.
SP William Ovye Aya, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the decoration of the new officers in a statement in Lokoja.
He said Onuoha also decorated 153 Assistant Superintendents of Police newly promoted with their new substantive rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police I.
“The Officers were decorated with their new rank amidst cheers from families, friends, and well-wishers.
“The decoration was a sequel to the promotions released by the Police Service Commission for 14,052 Inspectors to the rank of ASP II and 9,016 ASP II to the substantive rank of ASP I.
“The promotions were done in conjunction with the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
“The Inspectors who benefited from the promotion were those who attended the last Departmental Selection Board promotion interview, while the ASPs were those who passed the confirmation Examination,” he said
Onuoha, while appreciating the IGP and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission for the promotion, congratulated the new officers for their well-deserved promotion.
He charged them to double their efforts, noting that elevation is a call for greater commitment to the service of our dear Nation.
The Commissioner urged the Officers to respect the fundamental human rights of citizens, which is the Standard Operational Procedure for the Police.
He warned them to remain disciplined, as it is the bedrock of the Job.
In his remarks, the Chief Judge of Kogi State, Hon. Justice JJ Majebi, appreciates the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the Officers attached to the Judges Protection Unit for their commitment to duties, and the entire Officers and men of the Command for their efforts in ensuring the safety of lives and property in the state.
