12 years after, no controversy over installation of Oba Oginni as Olodogbo of Odogbo-Ijesa —Adeyeye

The Ejemo of Odogbo-Ijesa, Chief Jacob Adedeji, on Thursday, said there had been no controversy over the installation of Oba Olatunde Oginni as Olodogbo of Odogbo-Ijesa, in Osun State.

He contended that the monarch’s installation on January 20, 2012, by the Osun State government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters followed due process, urging the indigenes of the community to ignore rumours about any litigation regarding Oba Oginni’s stool.

Reacting to the development in a statement forwarded to the Nigerian Tribune on the speculation doing the round about an order of an interim injunction restraining the Ogboni of Ipole-Ijesa from installing Dr Olatunde Oginni as the Oba of Oranpon, Adeyeye described the matter as ridiculous and unfounded.

While maintaining that his principal, Oba Olatunde Oginni, is a law-abiding citizen who will not like to prejudice any case that is already in court, he affirmed that “it is imperative to put some records straight for the public not to be misled by the publication.

The statement reads: I’m the Ejemo of Odogbo-Ijesa where Oba Olatunde Oginni was installed by the traditional institution of the community as the first Olodogbo of Odogbo-Ijesa on the 20th of January 2012 after more than 150 people within the community signed the letter that was written to Osun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy matters demanding for the enthronement of Olodogbo of Odogbo-Ijesa.”

“Oba Olatunde Oginni has shown to be a worthy leader that can be relied upon since he was installed as Aro II of this Odogbo-Ijesa in 2009, and considering his contributions to the development of our this town through numerous projects running into several millions of naira, we the progressive-minded citizen of the town, after several deliberations and consultations resolved to elevates him to be our traditional leader.

“Nobody has ever occupied such a post in the town’s history, so it is not controversial or a case of title clash with any existing title. We don’t have any issue with all other titles which include that of ‘Likure of Odogbo-ijesa’. And I’m happy to inform you that an ultra-modern palace for the Olodogbo of Odogbo-Ijesa has just been concluded,” the statement concluded.
