THE Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), joint organisers of the 2024 Zuma International Film Festival with the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has unveiled a 10-person judging panel for the festival’s competitive category.
NFC’s Director of Public Affairs, Brian Etuk, announced the Nigerian and foreign judges on Monday, November 11, in Abuja.
He said, “the jury is most critical to the selection of winning entries, and the composition of the jury reflects the premium and niche of ZUMA International Film Festival, as one of the continent’s fastest-growing international film festivals and market events”.
Actress Stephanie Okereke Linus is the Jury chair. Other members include director Kenneth Gyang, docu-drama and documentary specialist Aisha Halilu Abdullahi and actor/producer Ishaq Sidi Ishaq. There is also producer Charles Novia, actor Hakeem Kae Kazim, director Sihle Hlophe, acting coach and creative specialist Ronya Man, actress Juliet Ibrahim and Zaiyanu Tanko Waziri, a veteran filmmaker and broadcaster with over two decades of professional experience.
Commenting on the appointments, NFC’s managing director and chairman of the festival organising committee, Ali Nuhu, congratulated Okereke-Linus for emerging as chairperson of the jury.
He said the Jury Chairperson and her team’s roles are critical to the festival’s success.
Nuhu assured that the NFC remains committed to sustaining the positive narratives that Nigeria, with a vast creative economy, is the hub of African film production.
The Zuma International Film Festival will be held in Abuja from December 1 to 5. ‘ Digital Renaissance: Embracing The Future’ is its theme, and online registration has commenced for intending participants.
