Gov Zulum
Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has donated N30 million to the family of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Ebisingha Alari, who was killed fighting Boko Haram insurgents in the Timbuktu Triangle.
The governor made the presentation to the officer’s wife in Maiduguri on Saturday.
Zulum expressed his condolences to Mrs. Alari and the families of others who have lost their lives in the ongoing conflict.
He said a government delegation had attended the officer’s funeral, but he felt it was important to personally express his sympathy. He also extended his condolences to all those affected by the fight against terrorism in Borno and the Northeast.
The governor explained that the N30 million was to help the family buy a house, as Lt. Col. Alari did not own one.
He promised continued support for the families of fallen heroes.
Present at the event were the Theatre Commander Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Waidi Shuaibu; Sector 2 Commander, Major General Chieiebere Ejike; Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan; and House of Representatives members Engr Bukar Talba and Ahmed Jaha.
Several state government officials also attended, including the Deputy Chief of Staff, Engr Babagana Malumbe; Commissioners; Permanent Secretary, Government House, Mustapha Ali Busuguma; Special Adviser on Security to the Governor, Brigadier Gen. Abdullahi Sabi Ishaq (rtd); and the Chairman of Damboa Local Government, Ali Mohammed Kauji.
