Borno Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has commissioned an ultra-modern facility for the Borno Geographic Information Service (BOGIS) to enhance land management and administration in the state.

The facility, which is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, is designed to provide a one-stop shop for land stakeholders, including landowners, developers, and investors, to access land-related services and information.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony in Maiduguri on Thursday, Zulum said his government is committed to improving land management and administration in the state.

He noted that the facility will enable BOGIS to provide efficient and effective services to land stakeholders in the state.

The Governor commended the management of BOGIS for their efforts in developing the facility and urged them to ensure that it is utilized to achieve its intended purpose.

The Executive Secretary of BOGIS, Engr. Adam Bababe in his remarks, said the facility will enable them to provide better services to land stakeholders in the state.

The auditorium, with a 180-seater capacity, is designed to serve as an interaction center for stakeholders involved in the built industry, while the media studio will utilize social media tools to engage the public on land management and administration.

“The agency has made significant progress in the last five years, including signing over 2,500 Certificates of Occupancy and approving over 2,000 consents for Deeds of assignment, legal mortgage, and others, generating about 5 billion naira in the process.

“The agency has executed several projects, including the construction and furnishing of a 180-seater capacity auditorium and a mini media studio, to engage stakeholders and implement its objectives.

“The BOGIS Auditorium will serve as an interaction center for stakeholders, including land title holders, staff, solicitors, and traditional institutions, and will be used for site board meetings, training, workshops, and other engagements.

“The Mini Media Studio will be used for continuous sensitization, community engagement, and awareness creation, leveraging strong social media tools like YouTube, Twitter, and Reddit to reach a wide audience.

“The agency has three cardinal objectives: timely service delivery, revenue generation, and enhancing staff welfare while fighting corruption, and will continue to work towards these goals.

“The agency plans to convene a town hall meeting to deliberate on burning issues in the land sector and appreciate the support of the Executive Governor, Engr. Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, in implementing its objectives” said Bababe.

He thanked Governor Zulum for his support and commitment to the development of the agency.
