No fewer than 207 Secondary school teachers whose salaries were suspended by Zamfara state government for truancy have apologised to Governor Dauda Lawal, saying they are sorry for the wrong doing.
Presenting their apology letters on Friday to Governor Dauda lawal through the commissioner ministry of Education, Science and Technology Mallam Wadatau Madawaki, the suspended teachers confessed of absconding to class room.
Mallama Nafisa Isah and Mallam Abubakar who spoke on behalf of the suspended teachers confessed of absenteeism, truancy, seek for apology.
“We believe that the present administration of Governor Dauda lawal, commissioner ministry of Education Science and Technology Mallam Wadatau Madawaki, they have feelings for human, we’re sorry for our wrong doings”, they apologised.

Earlier on, the Zamfara state commissioner of education science and technology, Mallam Wadatau Madawaki explained that the suspension of 207 school teachers was as a result of the committee setup by the state government to verify genuine teachers to enable government improve on welfare and conditions of service.
“After the screening exercise, the committee found some of the teachers absconding to class room, truancy, absentism while others were found working in two places, receiving two salaries,” he mentioned.
Madawaki further said that after the screening exercise, truant 207 teachers were discovered and their salaries were suspended.
“The teachers on their own, today decided to apologise to the governor, ministry of Education and parents, for their unfairness,” he said.
