Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has announced the appointment of Ali-Akilu Mohammed Bungudu, a former representative of First Bank of Nigeria (FBN) UK, as the Accountant General of the state.
This significant decision was conveyed through an official announcement on Tuesday evening, with the statement being signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Nakwada.
In addition to Ali-Akilu’s appointment, Idris Shehu has also been appointed as Deputy Accountant General in the state.
Ali-Akilu Mohammed Bungudu, a seasoned banker with a wealth of experience, is expected to bring his extensive expertise to his new role.
The Spokesperson to the Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, highlighted Ali-Akilu’s impressive background in the banking sector, spanning over two decades.
Governor Lawal’s decision to appoint Ali-Akilu as the Accountant General aligns with his dedication to selecting individuals who can contribute effectively to the state’s recovery and improvement efforts.
Bungudu boasts a track record of excellence in various areas of banking, including operations, and marketing (Public Sector, Government Revenue Collection, Retail Banking, and international banking).
Until his recent appointment, Ali-Akilu Mohammed Bungudu was heading the Nigerian Representative Office of FBN Bank UK LTD while also overseeing the Northern Business Office, with responsibilities encompassing Private Banking, Corporate Banking, and institutional Banking.
His history of consistently achieving remarkable business development and delivering high-quality services makes him a fitting choice for the position.
With this appointment, Governor Lawal emphasises his commitment to sourcing capable individuals for his administration’s efforts to transform the state.
