Ahead of Saturday’s bye-elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Zamfara State has received sensitive materials from the Central Bank in the state.
The election materials are to be distributed to the six affected wards of Kaura Namoda South, where the bye-elections will take place.
The Zamfara INEC Head of Operations, Abbas Abubakar, on Thursday acknowledged receipt of the election materials in the presence of security agencies, the media, and representatives of participating political parties in the state.
In an interview shortly after inspecting the election materials, the Zamfara State Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC, Dr Mahamud Isah, assured that the commission would conduct transparent, free, fair, and acceptable bye-elections in the state.

According to him, INEC in the state has received a total of fifty-nine thousand, four hundred and eighty-eight (59,488) ballot papers for the six wards where the elections will be held.
“We are at the last line to the preparations of the bye elections in the six wards of Kaura Namoda South, where we acknowledged received of 59,488 ballot papers and other sensitive materials and we assured of credible, acceptable, free and fair bye elections.”
The Zamfara REC further explained that fourteen (14) registered political parties would participate in the Kaura Namoda South bye-elections.
