Supporters of the lawmaker representing Ibadan North in the House of Representatives, Honourable Olaide Akinremi, popularly known as Jagaban, have said they will raise funds to purchase the form for him to re-contest for the position in the coming elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Supporters of the lawmaker made up of people he had helped secure jobs and those that had been trained and given starter packs plus seed money, are drawn from Ibadan North Local Government which also is the constituency of Honourable Akinremi Jagaban.
A statement by the media aide Akinremi, Mr Michael Adegbuyi, said the young people are about 900 in number and had come from various federal government establishments and in the private sector as entrepreneurs and business people, all helped in different ways by Hon Akinremi.
Adegbuyi explained in the statement that 239 of the youths are graduates of universities and other institutions of higher learning who had secured jobs in ministries, departments and agencies of the Federal Government, including law-enforcement agencies and the armed forces through the effort and intervention of Akinremi since 2019.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues in this rank, Mr Kunle Asubiojo, said “a renewed term for and the progress of Hon Akinremi Jagabanis priority to himself and his colleagues as we remain eternally grateful to the Ibadan North Federal Rep for our current positions in life.”
He noted that contrary to what is obtainable with some others in his position, Hon. Akinremi “considered only children of the masses and of those who gave him their mandate, and made sure he followed their applications to a point of success, a success we all enjoy till date.”
Speaking on behalf of those in the federal law-enforcement agencies, Mr Taliat Ayoade, said it was heartwarming when they realised “how far Akinremi pushed to secure our appointments,” saying “it is only fit and proper to support such a selfless man with our widow’s mite and encourage him to continue his good work in the House of Representatives.”
According to him, rallying around Hon Akinremi at this point was necessary as a “show gratitude, but more importantly, to not deny many other youths in Ibadan North Federal Constituency and beyond the opportunities, ourselves and hundreds of other youths have been given through Hon Jagaban.”
