Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has taken an unprecedented step in grassroots governance with the appointment of 50 Senior Political Assistants in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area.
The appointees, drawn from all ten wards of the council, were inaugurated on Monday at a swearing-in ceremony held in Imeko.
The event, presided over by the Chairman of the local government, Hon. Theophilus Olorode, drew party stalwarts, community leaders, and residents who hailed the development as historic.

Delivering his remarks at the inauguration, Olorode described the appointments as a milestone in democratic deepening and community engagement.
He noted that it was the first time in Ogun State that such a targeted political structure was being instituted at the ward level, with a clear mandate to strengthen the link between government and the people.
He further charged the appointees to serve with dedication and integrity, provide innovative solutions to community challenges, promote strong relationships with stakeholders, and uphold transparency and accountability.
He, however, cautioned them against complacency, urging them to treat their positions as a public trust.
“This appointment is about service more than anything else. The governor and the party are entrusting you with this responsibility because of your influence at the grassroots. You must justify that trust with integrity and dedication.
“This is the first time any governor in Ogun State has made such deliberate grassroots appointments, and for it to happen in Imeko-Afon is particularly significant for us. Governor Abiodun has set a precedent that deepens democracy and gives our people a sense of belonging in governance,” Olorode said.
Responding on behalf of the appointees, Hon. Isaac Falola, chairman of Imeko Ward, expressed profound appreciation to Governor Abiodun for his ingenuity in running an all-inclusive government and for bringing governance and development closer to the grassroots.
Falola pledged the full loyalty of the new appointees and promised that they would support the governor’s mission and vision of building the future of Ogun State together.
