PARAMOUNT ruler of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has enjoined Yoruba monarchs, elders and stakeholders to intercede with President Muhammadu Buhari on the release of the embattled Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo commonly known as Sunday Igboho.
Oba Akanbi said this at the weekend while calling for the release of Igboho, which he noted would go a long way in strengthening the unity of Nigeria.
Oluwo appealed to Yoruba monarchs to harmonise their interests towards the release of Igboho.
He said, “The controversies surrounding the continuous detention of Sunday Igboho can be addressed if the Yoruba monarchs, elders and stakeholders are ready to take a walk to President Buhari.
“Sunday Igboho is our son. He has made some mistakes that are realisable on the agitation for Yoruba nation. I urge stakeholders in Yoruba affairs to harmonise their interests, come together and approach the country’s leaders for the release of Igboho.
“Granting such request will entrench the unity of Nigeria and foster harmonious understanding. Only the Federal Government has the exclusive power to liberate Igboho at this critical time.
“Our son must be rescued. Releasing Igboho without recourse to legal lingering litigation will earn the government credit. It is a credit of maturity and unity.”
Oluwo urged the Federal Government to effectively relate with Benin Republic on bilateral ground and ensure Igboho is safely returned to Nigeria without further trial.
He said such action would encourage more patriots from Yoruba land.
