The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man, identified as Ishiaku Bukar, for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl in Maiduwa village, Fika Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, in a statement on Saturday, said the suspect was apprehended on September 13, 2025, following a distress call from the girl’s guardian.
According to the police, Bukar allegedly lured the minor to his farm under the guise of offering her assistance with a promised reward, but instead took advantage of the situation and raped her. The suspect reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime. As the investigation is ongoing, medical evaluation and treatment of the survivor have commenced.
As farming activities resume across the state, reports of harassment and abuse against women and children engaged as farmhands have occasionally been received.
The Command, therefore, warned that anyone found perpetrating such heinous acts will be decisively dealt with in accordance with the law.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report all suspicious persons who take advantage of farming activities to harass or abuse women and children.
The Commissioner stressed, “Say No to Rape, Protect Women and Children.”
