Better days are ahead for residents of Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State as the newly-inaugurated chairman is poised to make good governance its stewardship.
The newly-inaugurated chairman, Dr Samuel Olusola Akinbode, gave the assurance in Ayetoro during the maiden meeting with head of departments, affirming that all hands will be on deck so as to improve the standard of living of the people of the council.
Akinbode, in a release signed by the council’s Zonal Information Officer, Lateef Akintunde, declared that his administration will operate an open-door policy to give room for participatory democracy and solicited the support of the people and traditional rulers of the council area.
He affirmed that his administration will implement developmental programmes that will enhance the socioeconomic development of the people.
“My administration will operate an open door policy so that all and sundry can contribute to the development of our local government. I, therefore, seek your cooperation towards achieving our set goals and objectives,” he said.
The council boss appreciated the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and the people of the council for the opportunity given to him to serve, just as he assured the residents that they will see his election as a call to serve humanity and not an avenue to enrich his pocket.
He also assured career officers of prompt attention to issues relating to welfare and implored them to make dedication and diligence their guiding principles at all time
In their separate remarks, the trio of an elder statesman, Baba Olu Agemo, Bashorun Bisiriyu Popoola and Chief Kunle Adeosun, lauded the infrastructural development of present government at all levels and called on the new chairman to reciprocate at the grassroots.
Earlier, the Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs Akinsola Oluseye, assured career officers’ loyalty at all time, just as she promised cooperation in the uplift of the council.
