Yahaya Bello: Kogi PDP crticises Gov Ododo’s alleged interference in EFCC probe

Published by

The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned Governor Usman Ododo’s persistent interference in the ongoing Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigation into former Governor Yahaya Bello.

The former governor is under investigation for an alleged ₦80 billion fraud.

In a statement released on Saturday by the PDP’s State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Tijani Aruwa, the party urged Governor Ododo to focus on addressing pressing governance issues in the state, such as rising hunger and insecurity, rather than involving himself in matters concerning his predecessor.

Aruwa said, “The governor should prioritize the welfare of Kogi citizens and fulfill his constitutional duties instead of showing loyalty to a former leader facing serious corruption allegations.”

He further called for justice to take its course, expressing concern that Kogi State frequently makes negative headlines.

Meanwhile, the PDP distanced itself from comments made by Esseyin Oluwakayode Emmanuel, clarifying that he is not authorized to speak on behalf of the party regarding the state’s affairs.

The PDP reiterated its call for Governor Ododo to concentrate on the state’s challenges rather than accompanying Yahaya Bello on trips to Abuja.
