Renowned political economist and Commonwealth Institute Director, Prof. Anthony Kila, has hailed the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), for his statement about the ongoing attempt by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to arrest and interrogate the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.
Kila said the minister’s intervention in asking Yaya Bello “to toe the path of decency” was not only timely but meaningful.
Kila made this observation while addressing an International Forum of African and Caribbean Political Scholars during a webinar organised to discuss economic and developmental opportunities in the two continents.

According to him, the Justice Minister asking Yahaya Bello to “toe the path of decency” shows that the minister understands and believes in the rule of law and justice.
Kila, who is a public affairs analyst pointed out that even though he is not a fan of the minister, his singular act of defending the law has shown that he understands the importance of the rule of law in a system such as Nigeria.
He said it is high time Nigerians particularly those in the corridors of power and their associates started to respect the law of the land.
