Akinkunmi, the president of Yoruba community in Benue state explained that he decided to join the world to celebrate the global day to contribute his quotas as his social responsibility to the state.
He explained that due to economic hardship in the country, hunger and poverty have pervaded the society and the need to help the indigents occasionally.
According to him, ‘today is world food day which is celebrated across the globe, in a normal circumstance, every being is entitled to three square meal a day, but this is a sharp contrast to what is obtainable in the country today, where many families could not afford a square meal per day
Akinkunmi noted that the idea behind the celebration was to contribute his own quotas to saving lives of indigent people in the state.
“We prepare for 500 persons today but at present about 300 persons have come and I know that many people will turn up at the end of the day’.
While appealing to the government at all levies to initiate policy that would revive green revolution in the country, the president of Yoruba community in Benue state also called on youths to embrace farming.
He commended the state governor, Samuel Ortom for his efforts in agriculture which he said has revamped the sector in the state.
