Workers Day: Akpata hails Edo workers, lists promises ahead guber poll

On the occasion of the 2024 Workers’ Day, Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in Edo, Barr Olumide Akpata, has praised the dedication and resilience of the State workers, pledging to prioritise their welfare and champion their aspirations if elected.

In a statement he personally signed Wednesday, Akpata acknowledged the immense contributions of the workforce to the state’s economy and society.

The former NBA President reiterated his commitment to supporting Nigerian workers, while outlining his plans to create a conducive environment for the workforce to thrive, amplify their voices, safeguard their welfare, and champion their aspirations for a brighter future, if elected.

“May 1st, known as Workers’ Day, holds a very special significance in numerous countries, including Nigeria, as a day to honour the dedication, hard work, strength, resilience, and immense contributions of the workforce propelling the nation’s economy forward. It also serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made and the battles fought to uphold the rights and dignity of workers across diverse sectors.

“On the occasion of the 2024 Workers’ Day, I proudly stand in solidarity with the hardworking men and women who serve as the lifeblood of progress in Edo State and Nigeria and whose labour forms the bedrock upon which our society’s future is built. I reaffirm my steadfast commitment to standing shoulder to shoulder with Nigerian workers – your challenges are my challenges, and your triumphs are my triumphs.

“I also use this auspicious occasion to pledge that under a Labour Party government in Edo, priority will be given to fostering an environment conducive to the flourishing of our workforce. I vow to amplify the voices of the Edo workers, safeguard their welfare, and champion their aspirations for a brighter tomorrow.

“Happy Workers’ Day to all the dedicated and hardworking people of Edo and Nigeria. Together, we shall forge a path of progress and prosperity for all,” the statement read.
