We won’t limit NDE to job creation —New DG •Unveils new policy on job creation

The new Director General of the National Directorate of Employment  (NDE), Dr. Nasiru Ladan has hinted that under the new and renewed dispensation, the agency will not be limited to job creation.

Dr. Ladan gave this indication as the NDE unveiled a new policy on job creation; with a promise from the new director-general to reposition the NDE by injecting new ideas and strategies into its job creation drive in line with best global practices.

Apart from creating jobs for the teeming unemployed Nigerians, he pointed out that the Directorate will also assist  Nigerians who are already into small and micro businesses with cutting-edge business skills to enable them expand.

He assured that the agency would strive and do its very best to accommodate Nigerians seeking employment.

Dr. Ladan added that diligence will be observed in Skills acquisitions and resettlement, as trainings shall be tailored towards the peculiarities of each state and local government within the federation.

According to him, there will be more activities at the state level as the states and local government councils will constitute the hub of employment generation activities.

He said “We will look into the facilities at the state level, improve upon them and create jobs for youths.

“We are looking at a situation whereby no Nigerian will risk his or her life travelling across the desert and Mediterranean Sea just because they are trying to get to Europe in search of jobs.

‘’By choice, some will definitely travel to Europe but they will do it in more dignifying manner. Our website will be activated for employers and applicants will interact. We will be involved, we will get across to various embassies and get insurance for those being employed. It will be basedon intergovernmental synergy and collaboration.”

The new DG assured the staff of the Directorate of better days. According to him, staff welfare shall be one of the cardinal objectives of his administration and staff will receive capacity upgrade in different areas.

He however urged them to be disciplined, loyal and productive. He warned that there shall be no room for lawlessness, laziness and truancy, as members of staff will be encouraged to acquire new skills in order to be more productive and able to contribute to national growth.

He strongly stated that his administration will have zero tolerance for corruption.

Regarding the challenge of poor funding in the NDE, Ladan stated that the NDE can achieve more and record better landmarks with more funding.

“More funds shall be available if we step up our game and raise the level of our seriousness.”
