Women farmers plan convention to train youth on agro-export

The Nigerian women for Agricultural Progressive and Development Initiative (NWAPDI) is set to hold a National Youth in Agriculture Convention to create opportunities for young Nigerians practicing Agriculture.
The National Coordinator of NWAPDI Omolara Svensson said the convention aims to expose the youth to the enormous opportunities in the agriculture sector.
“The opportunities are enormous from access to scholarship in government owned institutions, access to affordable funding, access to training on cash crops cultivation, processing and export, access also to training on fishery and livestock”, Svensson said.
According to her, the agriculture sector is the only sector in the country that guarantees sustainable income and It was time for Nigeria to build future leaders in the agricultural sector because the future is green.
“The agricultural sector is actually the only sector where you are guaranteed a sustainable and decent source of income for a lifetime, from cash crops farming to processing, commodity export to livestock, the list is endless”
The convention with the theme “Sowing the seeds of sustainability” comes up on the 14th of August, 2024 and it is open to youth from ages 16 to 35 and can be attended in person or through our webinar.
She said participants will be exposed to 100% Government sponsored scholarships for Federal, State and polytechnic, training on how to access affordable local and International funding.
Other benefits according to the women farmers are training on Export Market, training on crops/livestock production, local/International Networking opportunities.
