Ex-militants have been captured in the 2022 budget proposed by the Ministry of Women Affairs (MoWA) for psycho-social support that would be undertaken by the ministry.
The services would cost the ministry the sum of N102 million.
Other beneficiaries of psycho-social support captured under the programme, are Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs).
MoWA would also explore counter-terrorism strategies to manage the impact on women, children and vulnerable members of society.
Tribune Online perused the four-paged proposal of the ministry to the national assembly as presented by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari to the joint session of the legislature earlier in the month.
This paper observed that part of its Economic Recovery Growth Plan (ERGP) for the 2022 fiscal year, was to provide palliatives worth N205 million for persons with disabilities and other vulnerable members of the society.
According to the 2025 appropriation proposal by the Ministry of Women Affairs, “ERGP 30172335 Psycho-social support services for IDPs and Ex-militants, for orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) N102,000,000”, listed as an ongoing project.
“ERGP 30172346 Developing/evolving mechanism on counter-terrorism strategy to mitigate the effect on women, children and the vulnerable in the society” billed to consume “N34,800,00.”
Tribune Online gathered that, the sum of N204,500,002 would be spent on approval for “ERGP 30172609″ for Provision of palliatives for vulnerable women, persons with disabilities and indigent women and children in the 36 states of the federation and the FCT on the effect of Covid 19 pandemic.”
Education for the Chibok girls under the care of the federal government would cost Nigerians, N364,500,000 to undertake “ERGP 30172525 Specialised education programme for the rescued Chibok girls,” the budget proposal stated.
Another N107 million would be expended to defray the cost for the “Establishment of functional Public-Private partnership (PPP) desk and engagement for youths job creation,” the ongoing project was captured on the budget code “ERGP30172722.”
The ministry has also allocated the sum of N150,000,000 for collaboration with the ministry of education to increase the enrollment and completion rate of girls in school, distinctively captured on “ERGP 9172875.”
To ensure that all its outstations programmes are in line with anti-corruption law, especially as it has to do with women, girls and the vulnerable, the ministry in its proposal, budgeted the cost of N18,450,000, in its proposal before the legislature for oversight and approval.
