Programme Manager, Center for Applied Ethics and Political Communication in Africa (CAEPOCOM AFRICA), Miss Mary William Aniefiok, made this call in Ibadan at an event to commemorate the 2018, International Women’s Day.
Speaking, Aniefiok said it was imperative for women to critically examine political campaigns and manifestos before they choose whom to vote for.
She further advised women to transcend taking up cheer leader roles but canvass for front line positions in political parties.
Though she noted that the political environment may be challenging for women, Aniefiok said women must be ready to bear all odds to be involved in politics.
Reminding women of their mass number, she urged women must utilise their mass number to influence the kind of leaders who govern them.
She warned that women and children would continue to bear the greatest brunt of the state of the society, if they failed to play active roles in politics.
