A philanthropist, Ramatu Abarshi, has been abducted by terrorists alongside her daughter, Amira, after distributing Ramadan gifts in Mariri town of Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
A family source said the bandits must have trailed them to Kasuwar Magani where they were eventually kidnapped to an unknown destination.
The incident it was gathered occured on Saturday noon and since then efforts have been put in place by her relations to trace them.
The family source remarked her abductors had made contact and are demanding N100m as a ransom for their release.
Abarshi, a former Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Kaduna Polytechnic, is known for philanthropy and peace initiatives in Southern Kaduna.
Speaking on the development, the spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, Mohammed Jalige, said he was not aware, saying “you know people don’t always report such incidents immediately to the police.”
