Tragedy struck on Wednesday afternoon at the premises of the Ikeja High Court when a witness who was billed to testify vomited blood, slumped and died.
The deceased who was in his late thirties whose name could not be ascertained as of filing this report reportedly vomited thick lumps of blood after which he collapsed in the corridor and died before testifying in a Land dispute matter before Justice O. Olayinka of the same court.
The deceased was reported to have been a claimant in the said case in and had been slated to testify about the matter.
An eye witness who did not want to disclose his name said just before the case was called, the deceased started coughing blood and went outside the court, only for his lawyer to rush into the court and announce that he had died.
The blood was said to have choked him as it came out in lumps, staining his shirt and floor.
The counsel notified the Judge about the incident which prompted the judge to rise for the day.
The body of deceased was immediately taken to unknown hospital with a state ambulance.
Litigants and witnesses were in shock as to what caused such bizarre occurrence.
The Chief Registrar was not available to comment on the incident as she was said to be in a meeting with Chief Judge.
