Alex in his divorce suit accused his wife of being stubborn, gallivanting all over the place and keeping late nights. He added that she had constantly denied him sex.
He, therefore, prayed the court to separate them.
“My lord, I have patiently studied my wife for the five years we have been married and have reached a conclusion that she has no affection and time for me,” Alex told the court.
“We met and got married in Kaduna. As a teacher, she was expected to resume for work at noon but she would leave home early in the morning under the disguise that she wanted to see their head teacher in school or carry out a duty before the resumption hour.
“She would likewise return home late. This gradually became a pattern. She failed to change her ways despite my regular complaints.
“I thought the weekends would be different but the reverse was the case. She neglected me and preferred to be in the company of her friends. My wife would be on the phone immediately it was dawn. She would abandon the house chores and chat with her friends for hours. She would finally round off her conversation with a promise to pay them a visit that weekend.
“On many occasions, I would insist she must not go since she was hardly at home during the week. But since she’s stubborn and has no regard for me, she would flout my orders.
“Her display of disrespect and disaffection towards me gradually caused a strain in our relationship. This was climaxed by her refusal to have sex with me.
“My lord, any time we quarrel, she takes it back on me by denying me my conjugal right. She would turn her back towards me in bed and lie like a log of wood. Any attempt by me to touch her would end up in her kicking, biting and cursing me.
“Her attitude in bed automatically caused a delay in her childbearing but she was not just bothered.
“I returned home one day and discovered she had moved all her belongings from my house.
“My lord, I pray the court to put an end to our relationship so that I can move on with life,” he said.
The defendant refused to come to court after being served a court summon twice.
After listening to the plaintiff, the court president, Chief Ademola Odunade stated that the defendant’s refusal to come to court showed that she had no interest in saving her marriage.
Ruling, he dissolved their union.
