WICAN tasks women on career smart empowerment, redefine success

The Women in Career Advancement Network (WICAN) has called on women to take charge of their career empowerment and redefine success on their own terms.

This was the focus of the Career Smart Woman Conference 2025, held in Abuja, Nigeria, which brought together over 200 women in careers and business.

Keynote speaker Nonyelum Ujam emphasized the importance of believing in oneself and pursuing one’s dreams. “The major goal is to let the younger generation of girls see that you can achieve anything you set your heart to do. No giving up on your dreams,” she said.

The conference featured panel sessions on topics such as workplace resilience, navigating toxic environments, and balancing ambition with emotional wellness.

WICAN Founder and Convener Eniola Peters stressed the importance of community and support in women’s career advancement. “We are not just building careers; we’re nurturing confidence, resilience, and legacy,” she said.

The conference also showcased innovative female-led brands and empowerment initiatives, and launched Peters’ new book, The Career Smart Woman. Participants left with a renewed sense of purpose and empowerment, and a call to action to implement what they learned and build on new connections.
