THE Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has said that the “people’s will, their desire for change,” plus his party’s “formidable structure, a pattern which no other party can boast of,” will deliver victory for him in the coming election.
Omisore, speaking with Tribune Online, in Osogbo, on Monday, also said the fact that he was compelled by Osun people to contest for governorship election made his ambition the people’s project which he said, “they are ready to follow to a successful end.”
According to him, “our strength is in the number of people that follow us, and the beauty of it is that we remain an unbroken entity, as the structure of our enemies keeps cracking. They have become dismembered, while their members keep joining us.
For the crack in the opposition parties’ camp, he said, “not a single vote of SDP will go to other parties, but their votes will come to us because, as we can see, people are moving out of their parties,” and this trend, he said, had made SDP to be the best-positioned party aiming for the win in Osun.

“God so loved the state to move out of its present predicament, that is why we are here today, and you can see the crowd following us. The state can no longer pay salaries, but I can tell you that the allocation of the state is enough to pay salaries if properly managed, and when elected, salary payment will be my priority,” Omisore said.
Unlike what he said happened in 2014 that robbed him of victory, Omisore said, his party had demolished “rigging machinery” in the state with the uncanny loyalty of SDP members, as according to him, “we have 3,920 polling units in Osun State and we have our excos everywhere to monitor proceedings.
“It will surprise people to know that we have 92,200 excos from polling units, towards, to senatorial districts, to local governments, and state level. It is unbelievable that we have this, but there is no party in the state that can boast of this level of popularity, though they can assume they have it. In SDP’s case, we have all these names in paper, even they are registered with PIN numbers, so, we are in this contest to win,” Omisore said.
