Ace broadcaster and politician Abdulrasaq Abdulganeey has stated reasons why he would be contesting as the lawmaker representing the Ibadan North Federal constituency.

Recall that the lawmaker representing the Ibadan North federal constituency, Olaide Akinremi, died on Wednesday, 10th of July 2024.

The ace broadcaster, who is also the President of the Association of Nigerian Broadcasters (ANBROAD), declared his intention to run under the platform of the All Progressives Congres after the demise of Akinremi.

In a chat with Nigerian Tribune on Tuesday he noted that he intended to contest in a bid to promote more development in his constituency.

According to him if he wins the Bye-election to represent the constituency, he will engage in projects, including human capital development among others .

Adding that if he eventually emerges as the lawmaker representing the constituency, he will sponsor a bill on human capital development.

When asked if he will keep all promises made during campaign, the grassroot politician reiterated his commitment as a journalist towards the advocate for good governance which according to him speaks volume on the kind of person he is.

Abdulganeey, who is also known as GRA, boasts that if a credit-free and fair election is conducted, the presence of PDP in the state should not be a harbinger of his ambition.

He said, “Antecedent speaks volumes of who a person is; I’m a broadcast journalist, I have a school in media academy, I’m a grassroots politician, I know what it means not to have a welcoming spirit amongst one’s people because of one’s misdeeds. You who always advocate for good governance as a broadcast journalist and advocate for good governance, by God’s grace, I will do well and I must tell you that I have an antecedent that speaks volume for me.”

“The election will be conducted by INEC. INEC is a transparent umpire unlike state electoral bodies where manipulation is easy, so if there will be credible, free and fair election. The presence of PDP in Oyo shouldn’t be a harbinger to my ambition and candidacy by God’s grace,” he concluded.
