A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has explained why he was attacked and narrowly escaped an assassination attempt, saying it’s related to his vocal critique of the insecurity in Zamfara State and other national issues.
Shinkafi, a former governorship candidate of Zamfara State, escaped an assassination attempt on Friday in Abuja.
Speaking with the Tribune Online, Shinkafi revealed that the incident occurred shortly after Juma’at prayers on August 15.
He lamented that masked, heavily armed gunmen dressed in black, blocked his vehicle and attacked him before they fled the scene in a black, unmarked Prado Jeep on his way home.
Shinkafi maintained that the attack could not be unconnected to his vocal critique of the insecurity in Zamfara State and other national issues.
“I will not be deterred by intimidation or harassment in the quest for national security, peace, unity, and social development,” he maintained
According to him, before this attack, there were also multiple threat calls received in his Abuja residence, which he believed were in connection with the assassination attempt.
He passionately called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the DSS to investigate the sponsors and bring them to book.
