Ose Anenih son of the late Tony Anenih, former chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that he needs to prioritise his family.

He announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the ward chairman of Arue Ward 3 in Uromi, Edo State, noting that the decision came after “much reflection.”

“This decision was not made lightly,” he said.

“From the very beginning, I have stood with the PDP through its triumphs and its trials, bound by a belief in the promise of Nigerian democracy and in the ideals that first drew me to the umbrella.

“Along this journey, I have been fortunate to build enduring friendships, gain valuable lessons, and serve in ways that shaped both my politics and my person. For these, I remain profoundly grateful.”

Anenih explained that his resignation was necessary to allow him to step back from partisan politics and focus on his personal obligations.

“At this point in my life, however, I must step back from the arena of partisan politics,” he said.

“My duty now lies first with my family and with other responsibilities that demand my full attention.”

He stressed that his commitment to Nigeria’s progress remains unwavering.

“I will continue to contribute to intellectual and civic conversations that seek to improve governance and, above all, the lives of the governed.

“Ideas, policy, and principled debate remain essential tools for shaping our nation’s future, and I look forward to playing my part in that work.”

Anenih also expressed appreciation to the PDP and its members at all levels for their “support, goodwill, and camaraderie” over the years.

“I wish the party well, and I remain hopeful for a Nigeria that truly fulfils its promise to all her citizens,” he added.

Anenih before he resigned from PDP, served as the party’s Director of Research and Strategy during the September 21, 2024 Edo governorship election.
