Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has expressed admiration for celebrity chef and former Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, describing her as beautiful, intelligent, and hardworking.
The actress joined other dignitaries at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, where Baci commenced her attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style Jollof rice.
Speaking at the event on Friday, the actress emphasised that the celebrity chef represents a blend of beauty and brains.
She encouraged young women in attendance to aspire beyond appearance by working hard and making meaningful achievements for themselves.
She said, “She wants to break another record, and she will break it in Jesus’ name. And we shall all celebrate in Jesus’ name. I love Hilda because she’s beautiful, she slays, she’s intelligent, beauty with brains.
“To all the young ladies here, you can look beautiful, but you have to hustle. You have to do something special for yourself.”
Tribune Online reports that Baci, who became a household name in 2023 after her record-breaking cook-a-thon, had planned to cook 250 bags of rice but later scaled down to 200 due to technical considerations with the weighing equipment.
She explained that the crane and scale designed to measure the final dish had a maximum limit of 20,000 kilogrammes, including the weight of the custom-made pot.
“It’s safer for me to go below 20,000 kilogrammes so that my scale can carry it all at the same time and basically that is why I had to cut down on the quantity and I only cut it down by a thousand kilogrammes,” she said.
