Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has expressed his preference for Muhammadu Buhari’s government over President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
According to him, Buhari’s government was “100 times better” than Tinubu’s, citing the current economic downturn.
Amaechi made this assertion during a chat on an X space titled: “Weekend Politics”, monitored by TRIBUNE ONLINE on Saturday.
“Buhari’s government is 100 times better than Tinubu’s government. For Christ’s sake, were you dying of hunger? What we pay here is ₦1 million every week for power (₦4 million in a month). How many people can afford that? Then you have to buy diesel of about ₦300,000 aside feeding and staff salary,” Amaechi asserted.
He further lamented the current state of affairs, stating that Nigerians fared better under the previous administration than they are facing now under Tinubu.

“But it was not like that when Buhari was in power. Why are we comparing diamond to gold? In fact, this government is not even gold at all,” he added.
Amaechi’s comparison comes after he left the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where he now aligns with other notable figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
This new alliance aims to unseat President Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 elections.
Amaechi also vowed to support ADC’s presidential candidate if he emerges from a free and fair primary election.
“In a free and fair primary, whoever wins will have my full support. I will be deeply devoted to the campaign and will do everything in my power to help ADC unseat this current clueless government.
“I will abandon the coastal road; that road is for stealing.
“Electoral reforms are the lowest-hanging fruit for me if I become President.
“There will be electoral reforms in my first six months,” he stated.
