OVER 1.5 million residents of Oyo State have received free healthcare courtesy the state government, in the past six years.
This is apart from 18,000 people who have been screened for cancer by the ABC Foundation, an initiative of the wife of the state governor, Mrs Florence Ajimobi.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi made these disclosures while receiving a team of medical personnel under the auspices of Jesus House Healthcare Mission, United Kingdom, on a courtesy visit to Governor’s office, Ibadan, on Monday.

Speaking, Ajimobi stressed that the free healthcare interventions of the state government was in having healthy citizens that would contribute to socioeconomic development.
He lauded the healthcare mission of Jesus House targeted at attending to 2,500 persons across five local government areas in the state while calling for more involvement of Nigerians in diaspora in the affairs of their home country.
Head of the health care mission, Dr Jibade Salami, in his remarks, stated that within the next five days, bed kits will be given to 1,000 pregnant women to prevent postnatal deaths.
He added that the mission will see eyeglasses given to people with refractory prob!ems, while people with hernia, prostrate cancer will also be attended to.
Speaking in the same vein, Mrs Ajimobi said the health mission will also cover minor surgeries, dental surgeries, prostrate and cervical cancer screening, HIV/AIDS tests, ophthalmologic tests and malaria.
She, like Senior Pastor of Jesus House, Mr Agu Irukwu, avowed that the five days mission will positively impact upon the health sector of the state.
