Wellspring varsity holds convocation October 18

Ahead of the 12th convocation ceremony of Wellspring University, Benin, Edo State, holding on October 18, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Isaac Ajayi, has disclosed that no fewer than 149 students will be graduating with five percent graduands making First Class honours.

Ajayi, who disclosed this at a press conference in Benin City, added that 67 of the graduands will be graduating with First Degrees while 82 others will be awarded Post-Graduate Diplomas and Masters degrees respectively.

According to the Vice Chancellor,  statistics of the first degree graduates show that three graduands made First Class, 33 (49%) made  Second Class, Upper Division, 25 (37%) made Second Class, Lower Division and six (9%) and other categories, just as 46 and 36 will be graduating with Post-Graduate Diplomas and Masters Degree in various courses.

He said: “Activities to celebrate the week include a special keep-fit exercise for staff and students and a novelty match between our female staff and female students. Debate competition and exhibition/research fair.

“A special thanksgiving service for all our graduands is slated for tomorrow while alumni lecture and dinner follows by 4.00 p.m.

“All the activities will culminate, D.V. in the convocation event, Friday, October 18, where the Chancellor of the University, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, will be conferring first and higher degrees on deserving graduands.

The Vice Chancellor disclosed that the university is getting better grip every passing year on the task of preparing skilled manpower for the current knowledge economy that is driven by 5G Networks, among others.

Nanotechnology, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Alternative Energy Revolution, Business Intelligence Analysis, among others.
