A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Chief Henry Ofa made this known in Warri during a maiden visit of the national leadership of Delta Mandate to the Central Senatorial District.
Ofa explained that such support was premised on the acceptability the personality Okowa enjoys in the entire length and breadth of the state.
“The personality of Okowa, who is, in every sense, a candidate that is overwhelmingly accepted by Deltans, stands him out,” he stated.
Ofa added that the position of the Urhobos was also in consonance with the advice former Governor James Ibori who had earlier urged Delta Central stakeholders to accord full support to Okowa.
It will be recalled that Ibori had, at a solidarity visit of Delta Central leaders to him in Oghara, endorsed Okowa for a second term and urged the Urhobo nation to rally round him.
Ofa said the support being enjoyed by the Okowa’s government was a testament to the consensus “among all citizens of the state that Governor Okowa is really working despite the negative effects of the nation-wide economic downturn.
“It is true that our national leader, Chief James Ibori endorsed Governor Okowa for a second tenure, but the support of Delta Central is not just based on Chief Ibori’s advise alone.
“We have seen for ourselves that Okowa is working on every segment of the state. His even spread of development projects across the three senatorial districts of the state is highly commendable.
“In just two years of saddling the state’s affairs, there have been many positive changes which all Deltans are proud of.
“This is why the stakeholders of Delta Central have resolved to support him at the 2019 general elections,” he declared.
Ofa, who is the former commissioner representing Ethiope West, Okpe and Sapele Local Government Areas in the board of DESOPADEC, also noted that the programme and policies of the state government was aimed at bringing true prosperity to all Deltans.
