Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has asserted that his administration will not compromise on standards and quality in all projects it embarks upon, despite the high cost of construction materials and equipment.

The Governor made this statement in Azare on Saturday while inspecting the ongoing reconstruction and remodeling of the main market in the second-largest town in the state.

Bala Mohammed, who was not impressed with the slow pace of the project, which is being carried out through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), assured that the government is committed to completing the project. He stated that the government will take over the completion process by supporting the contractor based on its interest in conceiving and executing the project.

He also urged the people of Azare and Bauchi North Senatorial District to actively participate in the project for the overall growth and development of the area, as it is intended to boost the economic growth of the people, considering its commercial status.

The Governor used the visit to commend the contractor for investing over N700 million into the project so far. He emphasized that, given its importance, the government will augment the contractor’s efforts to ensure its completion and commissioning for the benefit of the people.

In response, the Managing Director of the firm handling the project, Abdulkadir Shehu Madi, commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his support and pledged to complete the project on time, as scheduled.

He stated that despite inflation in the prices of building materials, his firm will ensure that the project is executed according to specifications and quality standards.

The contractor further assured that his firm is always ready to cooperate and collaborate with the government in executing projects that will positively impact the lives of the people of the state.
