Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has assured the people of Ogun West Senatorial District of his administration’s commitment to addressing the infrastructure deficit in the area.
He gave the assurance on Saturday at the grand finale of the 2024 Odun Omo Iganmode Day celebration, held in the Ota area of the state.
Abiodun, represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, explained that the obvious neglect of the area had been a major challenge to infrastructure development in the senatorial district.
He noted that the district currently serves as the state’s economic hub due to the establishment of various industries within the region.

Abiodun added that his administration has been actively working to reverse the challenges with the reconstruction of critical roads in the area.
“Let me assure you that the reconstruction of critical roads in Ado-Odo/Ota and its environs remains a top priority for our administration.
“The Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta road, which is a vital corridor for trade, commerce, and daily life, has suffered from many years of neglect.
“We have already put in place a contract for the road, and we are still engaging with the Federal Government and other stakeholders to ensure the complete rehabilitation of the road.
“Similarly, significant progress has been made with the ongoing construction of the Atan-Lusada-Agbara road, another critical infrastructure project and lifeline for the people and industries.
“We are committed to delivering these projects to enhance connectivity, boost economic activities, and elevate people’s standards of living.
“Our administration recognizes that the prosperity of Ota is directly linked to that of the entire state, and that is why we are committed to addressing these infrastructural challenges while creating an enabling environment for people and businesses to thrive.”
Congratulating the people on this year’s festival, the governor emphasized the importance of cultural celebrations in promoting unity and fostering progress in the state and the country as a whole.
He also announced a donation of N20 million to support the hosting of the festival.
The Olota of Ota Awori land, Oba (Prof.) Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, described Odun Omo Iganmode as a grand celebration of Aworiland’s rich heritage, unity, and collective pride.
Oba Obalanlege said the festival is more than a cultural celebration, stating, “It symbolizes the courage and resilience of our forebears, particularly the warriors who fought valiantly to protect the sovereignty of Ota and Aworiland.
“Their sacrifices laid the foundation for the peace and prosperity we enjoy today. As custodians of their legacy, we are charged with the responsibility of sustaining and advancing our heritage.”
