Welder docked for allegedly stabbing man with knife

A welder, Joseph Barrack, who allegedly stabbed a man with a knife, appeared at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos on Monday.

Barrack, who resides in Ikorodu area of Lagos state, is facing a charge of assault, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Mike Unah, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 16, at Daystar Church, Oregun in Lagos state.

He said that the defendant used a knife to stab the complainant, Bamidele Badejo, on his forehead and one of his hands, following a disagreement between them.

Unah said the offence contravened Sections 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

‎‎The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 173 stipulates a three-year jail term for offenders.‎

The magistrate, Mr A.A. Fashola, granted the defendant N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Aug. 26 for mention.
